Ten graduate students from the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of British Columbia (UBC) are winners of awards supporting travel to academic conferences.
Four students received the Graduate Student Travel Award in Pharmaceutical Sciences, which is funded annually by which is funded annually by alumnus, Dr. George Tonn (BScPharm’88 MSc’90 PhD’95). The recipients are Devinder Sharma, Leon Wan, Jayakumar Surendradoss, Ying Wang. Six students received the Office of the Associate Dean, Research & Graduate Studies Travel Award, funded by the UBC Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences. The recipients are Tim Chow, Hesham Soliman, Adam Raymakers, Dahai Zhang, Claudio Erratico, and Sajad War. Each award is in the sum of $500.
"It's essential that our graduate students are supported in their professional development," says Dr. Kishor Wasan, professor and associate dean, Research & Graduate Studies, UBC Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences. "Conferences are a big part of that development as they provide opportunities for students to present their work to peers in the industry."
