Clinical members of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of British Columbia (UBC) are recipients of five 2012 Excellence in BC Health Care Awards.
Presented annually by the Health Employers Association of BC (HEABC), the Excellence in BC Health Care Awards celebrate innovation and exemplary service in publicly funded health care. “These awards are a testament to the impact our clinical faculty members are making on health care delivery in B.C.,” says Dr. Peter Zed, professor and associate dean of Practice Innovation, UBC Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences. “In addition to educating our students, they're making invaluable contributions as researchers and service providers in the profession of pharmacy and beyond,” says Dr. Zed.
Drs. Dan Martinusen (BSc(Pharm)’87), Piera Calissa, Brue Lange, Marianna Leung (BSc(Pharm)’84), and Judith Marin (PharmD'06), are winners of the Collaborative Solutions Award for their work on a project titled Innovative Protocolization of Anemia Therapy in Dialysis Patients in the BC Provincial Renal Agency. Leung is also the winner of the Top Innovation Award for her project titled Affiliate for the Renal End-of-Life Initiative at Providence Health Care. Other award recipients include Drs. Tim Lau and Nilu Partovi (BSc(Pharm)’85) (Collaborative Solutions Award of Merit) and Drs. Sean Spina (BSc(Pharm)’00, PharmD’07) and Junine Toy (BSc(Pharm)’95) (Health Care Hero Award).
