Pharmacy 453B 013

This is a Directed Studies in Professional Practice - Community Service Learning. Service learning is the process of involving students in community activities and providing them with opportunities. Reflection is a key component to allow students to grow as an individual and as a professional, to advance civic awareness and civic responsibility. This elective pharmacy course provides a unique 2-semester opportunity for Year 1 pharmacy students.

Learning Environment

I am passionate about our pharmacy students adding value to patient care. I want pharmacy students to have the knowledge and skills to provide direct patient care activities, and to make a difference and contribute to society in a meaningful way. I prefer teaching in small groups, where students share their reflections, so that we learn from each other and learning becomes exciting, relevant and memorable.

Projects

1.  Development of Directed Studies in Professional Practice - Community Service Learning for Year 2 pharmacy students. This elective pharmacy course will provide a unique 2 -  semester opportunity with exposure to residential care and institutional practice.

2. Preceptor Development - Our program is  a success because of the hard work, commitment and dedication of our preceptors. Preceptors are key clinical faculty, providing our students with many learning opportunities, in diverse clinical settings, to apply  knowledge and hone clinical skills. The Office of Experiential Education strives to offer our preceptors guidance and support in achieving the goals and objectives of the experiential program.
