This course provides students with learning opportunities to develop the necessary knowledge, skills, and attitudes that will enable them to effectively provide pharmaceutical care to patients in accordance with contemporary standards of pharmacy practice. The approach for the handling of drug information requests and for assisting patients in the selection and use of home health care products is emphasized.
In this laboratory and tutorial course, students continue to develop the knowledge and skills acquired in Pharmacy Skills I. This course focuses on the provision of drug information, the counseling of home healthcare products and prescription medications, dispensing prescriptions and providing pharmaceutical care.
This course is offered to twelve students in their third year of the program. These students will be peer-teachers facilitating group discussions and work one-on-one with students in Pharmacy 303 to develop their patient counseling and problem solving skills.
Teaching undergraduate students on the practice of pharmacy in the community setting. Public education, in terms of health awareness, is another area of interest and focus.
