PharmD Program


Applications for the Graduating Class of 2017 will open on November 15th 2014. Watch this space and follow on Twitter.   

1.  Who can apply?

All interested individuals who meet the minimum requirements for admission into the U.B.C. PharmD program are invited to apply. For a detailed description of these requirements and procedure please review the, Program Summary web page.  Please note that Individuals who do not have Canadian Citizenship or PR in Canada are not eligible to apply.

2. How do I apply?

Applications to the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program are to be made solely online and include a non-refundable application fee of $135.00 which should be paid on the application by Mastercard/VISA.

Current UBC students

Log into SSC and choose "change of degree program/campus" before accessing the supplemental application.

Former UBC students

Log into SSC and choose "Re-Admission" from the "Admission" drop down menu.

Applicants without a UBC Student ID#

First follow the application steps at

  • Applicants will be prompted to create a CWL login account (for those with existing CWL accounts you can login using your existing CWL username and password).
  • Once you create a CWL account, login to UBC Online applications and click on "My Account", "login to your Account", "Apply to UBC", "Apply" buttons and start your application by selecting the program you are applying for.
  • Applicants are prompted to pay their application fee before submission (if you missed paying at this time you can pay via SSC, Finances).
  • After successful submission, applicants will be prompted with a confirmation page stating their UBC student number. PLEASE MAKE A NOTE OF THIS NUMBER.

Supporting Documents

  1. Supplemental Application: There is an online PharmD Supplemental Application that must be completed after you submit your initial application. It is available on the Student Service Centre.
  2. Graduate Student Reference Form: Acrobat PDF (PDF 75 KB) or MS Word format. Provide this reference form to each of 3 individuals that you have chosen to act as a reference for you. Your referees should be individuals who can provide an objective opinion about your academic and professional abilities, and your potential for completing a graduate program. These referees should complete the form and email it to  Referees may email a letter of reference in lieu of this form.
  3. Curriculum Vitae: Email this document to or mail it to the Doctor of Pharmacy Program.
  4. Official Transcripts: Arrange for ONE set of official transcripts from all colleges and universities previously and currently attended to be mailed directly to the Doctor of Pharmacy Program. These transcripts must be mailed directly to the Doctor of Pharmacy Program at the address below in envelopes that are sealed and endorsed by the issuing institution. Please note that current and former UBC students do NOT need to send in official transcripts but you must complete your application using your original UBC student number.

A complete application thus includes an application form, a supplemental application form, 3 confidential letters of reference, a current curriculum vitae and one set of official academic transcript. It is the applicant's responsibility to ensure that we receive all documents required for application for admission in advance of the January 15 deadline.

5.  What is the deadline for application this year?

The deadline for receipt of all application materials is January 15th. It is the applicant's responsibility to ensure that we receive all documents required for application for admission in advance of the deadline.

6.  When and where will the interviews be conducted this year?

Interviews may be requested by the Pharm.D. Admissions Committee after the initial screening of applicant files. You are asked to provide your preferred location for this interview (Vancouver, B.C. or Toronto, Ontario) on the PharmD Supplemental Application Form. Interviews in Vancouver will take place in late January/early February of the application year. Interviews in Toronto will take place in early February and will coincide with the CSHP Professional Practice Conference to maximize convenience for the applicant. Should you be asked for an interview, you will be contacted by our office after the application deadline.
